ABOUT US
Dear Reader I hope this ‘brief synopsis’ is not too boring but apparently it’s a ‘done thing’ giving ones background! It’s over many years so cannot include everything!
My career was in nursing and education. I am a Mother and Grandma. In 1984 I joined my husband who had been working in India for many years. Whilst there, I used my experience and worked with The Family Service Centre Mumbai, on a children’s educational project in two slum communities. Later I had the pleasure to be associated with the NAWA [Nilgiries Advaseri Welfare Association] and worked with some wonderful people developing a school in Kotagiri for the various Tribes in the Nilgiries in Southern India. I was then approached by a large company in England, to design & manufacture a range of promotional garments. The beginning of a new exciting business!
Whilst working and travelling extensively throughout the Far East, Africa and India, I discovered the skills and quality of products made by various artisans who used a diverse selection of materials, it was wonderful, the brilliant colours of the fabrics, the mosaics, all were just breathtaking.
The idea to buy these quality products for a future business in the UK was formulating in my mind.
When I returned to the UK for longer periods, I decided to start my own company. To research the market to see if my products were suitable I organised Craft Fairs, fundraising events and attend other events, the response was brilliant and very positive!
The confidence to continue is due to a good trusting relationship with my supplier abroad, as it is with the UK suppliers who produce unusual items. The patience of Jayne & Ray of Acanthus constructing the website has been endless!
It is with thanks to them, I can sincerely offer stunning products, beautifully presented at reasonable prices!
Welcome to Indigo Flair!
